We're heading into our 4th weekend in the pilot scheme for the Safe Square at Leopold Square in Sheffield, and it's been quite the journey so far. 😅
For those who don't know, the Safe Square is a scheme to help keep people safe on a night out - whether that means providing medical support; a safe meet up point if people have lost their mates or a space to charge your phone for free. 💚
So we've been asked repeatably "How's it going?" ❓
Obviously in a dream world, no-one would have to use the service, but in the real world there's clearly a real need for a permanent Safe Square based on what we've seen over the past 3 weeks.
🚑 - The scheme has already prevented over 40 cases going to A&E, freeing up Ambulance crews - which are in short supply - to instead focus their resource on more serious issues across the city.
🫶 - By acting as a drop off point for the incredible Sheffield Street Pastors and South Yorkshire Police, it's allowing trained professionals to focus on keeping the City Centre safe and allowing our trained staff to safeguard and look after people.
💪 - Having the incredible Trinity Medical Services Ltd & IPM Group supporting the scheme allows the Safe Square to provide a rapid response to serious incidents within the city centre.
As we go into the final weekend before Christmas, be sure to know and let any friends and family know that the Safe Square is available on Friday and Saturday night from 10pm until 5am and is located within Leopold Square.
We hope you don't need us, but if you do - we've got you. ❤️
