Ah, such a pretty pink dress.... wait... Samuel Taunton as a Child, around 1750 English School Oil on paper In western culture the colours blue and pink are often used to indicate gender, especially for babies: blue for boys and pink for girls. Yet meanings can change over time. Just 100 years ago blue was thought more dainty and feminine, whereas pink was the stronger colour and so more appropriate for boys. Colour is on at the Millennium Gallery until Sun 14 Sep. Suggested donation £5 – please donate if you’re able. 🔗 Plan your visit here: https://www.sheffieldmuseums.org.uk/whats-on/colour/
