Directed by Teessider Jeanie Finlay, this is a wry, David and Goliath story about navigating through grief and finding power in community, rich with Stan’s own brand of heart, determination and gallows humour. 👉 Festival of Debate is the largest annual politics festival in the UK, taking place every spring across South Yorkshire.

Last week, our Industry Senior Consultant Patrizia Mancini attended the wonderful Docs By The Sea in Bali, Indonesia, and presented our Sheffield DocFest Networking Award 🏆🇮🇩 🥁 The winner was… Voices of a Village! 💛 👉 Patrizia said: “The Award goes to a project that stood out for its powerful and deeply human storytelling, its strong cinematic vision, and its ability to connect a very specific story to universal themes of community, resilience and change. Through intimate observation and a remarkable sense of place, the film offers a nuanced portrait of people facing profound environmental and social transformation.” 🇰🇷 Pat also recently attended EIDF (K:Docs) in Seoul, South Korea as an Industry Guest, and was part of a Jury for the H!-Docs Pitch!

In memoriam: Patricio Guzmán. This week, we mourn the loss of one of the great icons of Latin American documentary cinema. Through films that will remain part of the canon of cinema, Patricio Guzmán gave us an extraordinary body of work marked by deep sensitivity, humanity and an unwavering commitment to memory, history and those whose stories too often go unheard. His cinema transcended borders; we were honoured to screen several of his films across the years. They reminded us of the power of documentary to preserve memory, confront history and make us look at our present with greater understanding. A major figure, a singular filmmaker, and an enduring reference for generations of documentary filmmakers. We will miss him deeply, and we will continue to watch, discuss and celebrate his films. Thank you, Patricio.
