‘Julie and Trace’ was painted for Pete’s exhibition ‘The Boy With A Leg Named Brian’. Whilst the painting pays tribute to the 70s trend of getting your name on the back of a Harrington jacket, it is also a tribute to female friendships. “At some point in the ’70s there was a trend to get your name printed on the back of your Harrington jacket. This was mostly a girl thing, especially the hard ones, who you didn’t want to mess with” - Pete Friendships like Julie and Trace will have experienced a range of fashion trends, heartbreaks and big life moments together, friendships like that last a lifetime.
