WECOMPOSE ENSEMBLES: CONSONE QUARTET   First up, we’re delighted to introduce @consonequartet as a WeCompose ensemble. Also acting as our Visiting Quartet in South Yorkshire, the Consones are traveling across the country, working in schools to spread the joy of the string quartet to young composers.    The first period instrument string quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists, they are fast making a name for themselves with their honest and expressive interpretations of repertoire, notably from the classical and romantic eras.   The quartet are Artists-in-Residence at Paxton House (2023-2025) and at Saxon Shore Early Music Kenardington (2024-2027). Following tours of South America (2018) and Canada (2023) the quartet will return to North America in 2025 to perform both alone and in collaboration with pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout.   #wecompose #musicinschools #musiceducation   With thanks to our funders and supporters including Paul Hamlyn Foundation, the Vaughan Williams Foundation, Earl Fitzwilliam Charitable Trust, Freshgate Trust Foundation, Samuel Gardner Memorial Trust, Duke of Devonshire’s Charitable Trust, Sheffield Bluecoat and Mountpleasant Educational Foundation, Sheffield Church Burgesses Educational Foundation, Sheffield Grammar School Exhibition Foundation, Sylvia and Colin Shepherd Charitable Trust and Three Monkies Trust.
