TOMORROW: In testament to music’s ability to transfigure the darkest of experiences, the Quartet for the End of Time was written while Messiaen was a prisoner of war, and Klein’s folk-infused trio was completed just ten days before he was transported to Auschwitz. An evening of commemoration and hope, performed by Ensemble 360. Prior to this, leading Messiaen scholar Christopher Dingle (Professor of Music at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) joins musicians from Ensemble 360 for a roundtable discussion exploring one of the great masterpieces of the twentieth century: Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. 🎫 MESSIAEN ROUNDTABLE Christopher Dingle & Ensemble 360 🗓️ Sat 1 November, 4pm-5pm 📍 Crucible Playhouse, Sheffield 🎫 QUARTET FOR THE END OF TIME Ensemble 360 🗓️ Sat 1 November, 7pm-8.45pm 📍 Crucible Playhouse, Sheffield See comments for details and booking link. #ThisIsChamberMusic #Sheffield Welcome to Sheffield
