🎉 It’s our 5th Birthday this Week 🎂⁠ ⁠ All week we’re sharing 5 highlights from our 5th anniversary year.⁠ ⁠ ⭐️ Learning and Careers ⭐️ ⁠ We believe videogames are for everyone. Forever. Our work not only focuses on preserving videogame history and culture for all generations to enjoy but also highlights the vital role videogames play in learning and development as well as showcasing the accessibility of varied careers within videogames.⁠ ⁠ This year has seen our educational visits grow significantly thanks to the hard work of our award winning Learning Team. From educational visits to resources for home learning, with the NVM children can learn how to make games, discover why they matter and explore their history and culture. Videogames are powerful tools for learning, helping to develop vital STEAM skills! Our recent Kids in Museums Takeover Day is just one example of the workshops we run. Students became Museum Makers for the day where they generated ideas for curated content that they’d like to see in the Museum. ⁠ ⁠ 2023 also saw Games Careers Week return for its third year. Organised by the NVM, the week-long event celebrates diverse pathways into a career in games for young people of all backgrounds. ⁠Our Games Careers Fair saw us invite over 400 students to attend for free to chat with industry experts about future careers. ⁠ Combining learning with future careers we also recently welcomed Sheffield Hallam University Experimental Game Practice students to the NVM to learn about interactive exhibit design within the museum.
