🕹 Game Highlight 🎮
An all time classic, Sim City 2000 places city planning in the hands of the player and is featured in our Fast Travel summer programme.
Originally released in 1993, the game has had a significant influence on the city building genre, laying the groundwork for many titles inspired by it such as 2015's Cities: Skylines.
Maintaining, rather than completing, a city was key in Sim City 2000, and initially, game investors couldn’t understand the point of an ‘unwinnable’ game. Players proved the investors wrong in the end, with an estimated 4.23 million copies of Sim City 2000 being sold worldwide.
❓Did you know❓
The 'Sim' franchise has inspired a variety of titles such as Sim Life, Sim Golf, Sim Tunes and of course the juggernaut that is The Sims. There was even a Sim Ant title - a simulation of an ant colony!
Be sure to 'Fast Travel' to the Museum this summer to experience Sim City 2000 and over 100 other games and unique exhibitions!
