🎉 We're turning 5 on Friday 🎂⁠ ⁠ All week on social media we'll be sharing 5 highlights from our 5th anniversary year.⁠ ⁠ ⭐️ Community Outreach ⭐️ ⁠ Transforming lives with videogames, our unique museum is where anyone from every background can play, explore and create videogames. Our work extends beyond the screens working with local communities to create innovative and inclusive ways to engage diverse audiences, providing access to videogame technology and inspiring people to make games building their confidence and skillset. A variety of outreach projects allows us to achieve this including this years, Level Up project. Funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project saw us take to the road with our Pop-Up exhibitions. Co-curated by our amazing Community Champions, it was wonderful to discuss why videogames matter, representation in games as well as where games are made with everyone who came to visit us. There were even opportunities to take part in hi-score competitions and dissect a Game Boy! The Level Up project and our Community Champions will continue to have a lasting legacy on the Museum and its work. A re-imagined version of the Level Up pop-up exhibitions will be exhibited in the museum in 2024 informed by the varied discussions and conversations we had with everyone who visited us on the road. Other events to have taken place as part of the project saw us work with the Really NEET Project in Rotherham and Barnsley Refugee Council where we discussed experiences with videogames and museums and the importance of preserving gaming history and culture.
