👾 Space Invaders - a classic that landed in 1978 👾
The 1970s saw the birth of videogame arcades, a new phenomenon that took the world by storm with simplistic but colourful graphics, fun gameplay and striking cabinets.
Arguably the most popular of that decade was Space Invaders. Following the success of other titles like Pong (1972), Space Invaders combined exciting gameplay with innovative graphics and technology.
An interesting feature of the game was it's soundtrack which increases in speed as the game progresses. This went on to influence the future of videogame music.
The 24th July sees our Summer Fun activities begin with a celebration of our new look arcade and Space Invaders will feature in our new high score competition.
