We’re excited to share that the National Videogame Museum will be representing the UK at the World Expo 2025 Osaka this summer!
From 18th – 24th July, we’ll be travelling to Japan to join the UK Pavilion’s Partner Exhibit Initiative. At the invitation of the Department for Business and Trade, we have developed ‘Videogames Transforming Lives’, which will showcase the transformative power of videogames through an immersive new exhibition and responds to this year’s Expo theme ‘Designing future society for our lives’.
One year in the making, we have selected and worked with partners to curate three distinct exhibits which give opportunity to play, learn, compete, and connect, whilst celebrating inclusivity and talent from the UK games sector.
In Osaka, visitors can try out the ground-breaking Eye Gaze technology from UK charity, SpecialEffect, before watching newly commissioned films centred around SpecialEffect’s story and mission. They can then play together with PowerWash Simulator, Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Dunk Dunk, before spending time appreciating the beautiful puzzle games of Monument Valley – developed by acclaimed UK studio ustwo games.
You can find out more about the project below and follow our journey to Japan on our channels over the coming weeks. If you’re in the UK, you won’t miss out. We’ll be bringing parts of the Osaka exhibition back home to Sheffield this summer - keep an eye out for more details coming soon.
We’d like to thank the Department for Business and Trade and all of the exhibiting partners who have helped to make this exhibition a reality.
