Our plans for half term are ramping up with the installation of our new Physics Exhibit of games imminent! One of the six featured games will be Portal 2 (2011) and will form the final part of a three game display that demonstrate the evolution of physics engines in videogames over 25 years. The game utilises Valve's Source engine which was the successor to Valve's previous engine GoldSrc (or Gold Source). Interestingly, GoldSrc is a heavily modified version of id Software's Quake Engine! The Source engine was used for both Portal games as well as the Half-Life and Left 4 Dead series. ❓ Did you know ❓ Portal 2 wasn't going to include the characters Chell or GLaDOS or even...wait for it...portals! It was originally set in the 1980's and would use a mechanic called F-Stop. https://thenvm.digitickets.co.uk/event-tickets/18644?catID=16115 🎮🚀 #NVM #PlayTheMuseum #portal #portal2 #valve #source #quake #quakeengine #chell #glados #wheatley #halflife #halfterm #halftermactivities #sheffield #sheffieldhalfterm #sheffieldissuper #cityofgaming #physics #physicsgames #physicsengines #funwithphysics #physicsfun #learn #discover #museum #schoolholidays #games #videogames #exhibit
