We're so proud to share that our brilliant Learning Officer, Leah Dungay, has been nominated for the Educational Impact award at the MCV/DEVELOP Women in Games Awards 2023 👏 Leah has facilitated a range of formal and informal learning activities reaching thousands of young people, engaging them in creative and imaginative forms to demonstrate why videogames matter in education. She has worked with The University of Sheffield on the World Builders Project- funded by the Paul Hamlin fund- working with a group of local primary school teachers focusing on making digital literacies the heart of pedagogy, incorporating videogames into classroom learning. Working on a BBC Children In Need supported project with local communities to tackle technology poverty, Leah has been instrumental in delivering free workshops in libraries and community centres targeting younger audiences through an engaging analogue activity “Play the City”. Whereby simply using pen and paper children can design their very own videogame level, which then transforms into a playable game at Sheffield Children’s library. And finally, Leah has designed our learning programme at the National Videogame Museum, providing a range of engaging activities which are accessible for all. Our informal learning activities take place throughout the school holidays. These engaging drop-in activities focus on bringing families together through creative activities. Leah has played a pivotal role in designing our formal learning programme which are bookable workshops for schools linked to the curriculum; Pixel Art and Build a Controller. These are just some of the ways in which Leah uses her knowledge and expertise to make a difference to thousands of young people’s lives. She is a true inspiration! 🙌 #award #nomination #womeningames #art #design #community #education #learning #inspiration #project #school #videogames #teachers #creative #schools #mcvdevelop #mcvdevelopawards #museum #museums
