We've launched a new digital collection that aims to preserve people's photographs from their own gaming history.
We're seeking images of participants engaging with videogames - whether setting high scores in an amusement arcade, or playing videogames at home - all of your game playing photographs are of interest to the Museum.
This picture, submitted by Michael, features son Matthew in an arcade in Filey (North Yorkshire) circa 2000 and captures a frozen moment in time of an arcade of that era.
Michael said, "Matthew has been through such a lot of illness and heartache in his life. He started with the most severe form of epilepsy when he was nearly 4 years old and as the years passed there seemed little hope that he would ever show signs of getting any better as he wasn't expected to live past the age of 11."
However, due new medication developed in the mid 1990's he began to recover and while he will never be independent his quality of life took a turn for the better.
The picture features Matthew, not long after starting his new medication, playing slots at an arcade - something, his dad says wouldn't have even been possible a few months prior to the image being taken.
If you have any similar gaming memories and moments captured on film, we'd love to add them to our new collection!
