“My name’s Kyle. It’s 7 o’clock in the morning and I’m naked in Kyrgyzstan.”
Is that the best start ever to an adventure film? Probably. In 2011, alpinist Kyle Dempster set out across Kyrgyzstan’s back roads on his bike. He was alone, carried only a minimalist’s ration of climbing gear, with ten Kyrgyz words to round out his vocabulary. He’d purchased his bike just weeks before and had never bike toured.
In a world of branded content, this stands out as true adventure.
👀 The Road from Karakol is showing in our Best of the Best of ShAFF session at 20:30 on Saturday 11 November in Sheffield Cathedral
