NEWS: Knives and drugs seized and recovered in Sheffield city centre operation 🚨
A dedicated operation has been delivered on the streets of Sheffield city centre as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug dealing and organised crime.
On Thursday (7 March), officers from Sheffield City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined by officers from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and Roads Policing Group as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug dealing and organised crime, which is unfortunately often linked to wider serious violence.
Officers conducted targeted vehicle stops, directing the road users to a pre-established check site at Moorfoot. Officers also carried out open land searches looking for drugs and weapons, and utilised a passive drugs dog.
People and vehicles who were stopped were scoped out by the paw-some PD Elsa, who was alerted to the presence of drugs on five different occasions.
Sergeant Tuscany Fox, from Sheffield City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, commented: "Operations like these send a clear message to our communities that we are taking positive action in keep the streets of our city free from crime.”
