"Healing through painting is powerful" Tom_Stimpson MBE
We welcomed Tom Stimpson MBE to The Ruskin Collection: Hand, Head and Heart at Millennium Gallery where the beautiful drawing he made for the exhibition is on display. The piece is inspired by Ruskin's interest in drawing feathers as a form of close looking at the world. 🤗
Tom is a veteran of the Royal Air Force, after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan he developed post-traumatic stress disorder. He describes undertaking art therapy sessions with Combat Stress (a charity that provides specialist mental health theraphy to veterans) as the 'moment the light started to come in again'.
