🎉 New to the collection! 🎉
Let’s welcome Mud and Stars, Gold Head (2022) by John Summers to Sheffield’s collection 💫
Crafted from a wild mix of materials, including gold leaf, glitter, glass eyes, and a giant white sock, this bold sculpture invites us to rethink the body through exaggeration, fragmentation, humour; a little horror and a lot of energy!
Summers’ work challenges boundaries and folds in echoes of Goya, sci-fi and hybridity.
Originally shown at the Millennium Gallery as part of These Mad Hybrids, John Hoyland and Contemporary Sculpture, Mud and Stars, Gold Head by John Summers is a memento to this landmark exhibition which has served as a striking reminder to be bold, embrace the unexpected and never be afraid to “try anything.”
Last chance to see Mud and Stars, Gold Head as part of These Made Hybrids: John Hoyland and Contemporary Sculpture this weekend!
