Celebrate South Asian Heritage Month! 🎉
This Sunday, join us at The Millennium Gallery for Performance: Threads of Unity – South Asian Dance, Music and Fashion from the Sunrit Culture Group! This is a family friendly event where you’ll see live performances representing eight countries in South Asia, each with different traditions, costumes and movements. You’ll learn about what makes each dance unique, as well as the threads that tie them together.
And coming at the end of the month, as part of Weston Park Museum's 150th birthday, we have a new display opening that sees co-curators from the city’s South Asian communities explore stories of people living in Sheffield today, asking how a museum collection of the future can represent Sheffield and its people. The objects have been chosen to reflect broad themes relating to South Asian communities in Sheffield, and will include loans and new acquisitions, see some pictures here of objects that are being prepped for display! 👀
