If you’ve popped into the Colour exhibition recently, you may have noticed the imperfections that have appeared in our Rangoli sand art installation. There have been small handprints, fingertip trails and even a shoe print! Rangoli are time-consuming to create but they do not use any fixative, so the sand is easily disturbed.
It was always going to be a risk having the Rangoli on open display in the gallery, but it perfectly highlights the temporary nature of the artwork. The Rangoli has just been recreated, so if you would like to see the pattern in its full glory, hurry down to Millennium Gallery asap!
