Meet the maker! 👋
Hi, I'm Lorna Gilbert Ceramics 💛
I make small batches of hand-thrown white stoneware ceramics from my studio in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
My creative practice has developed over several years to bring together a beautiful range of pottery to complement a simpler way of living. I hope my handmade objects can help to ground you and remind you to find joy and pleasure in the everyday 🥰
My current work is inspired by wilderness, the ocean and mountains. I am exploring the interplay between matte and gloss glazes as well as their interaction when mixed during firing.
My new collection, 'Mustard Moon' features Hares and Swifts - The hare can symbolise change and feminine energy and is also often linked with the moon's energy. The swift is associated with change, travel and communication. Swifts can also be signs of new beginnings.
You can find Lorna's ceramics in Handmade for Christmas at the Millennium Gallery, where every purchase raises vital funds which help keep our museums and galleries free and open for everyone to enjoy ⛄️
