This Hokusai print is one of the most popular works in our Colour exhibition, and it's unique to the Sheffield leg of this tour. These artworks are incredibly light sensitive, so a different print will be placed in each gallery to avoid overexposing one work.
The flat composition and bold use of colour in Japanese woodblock prints inspired Impressionists like Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas. Their influence shows how global art history is.
Visit Colour at Millennium Gallery to see this unique Hokusai print.
Colour is on at the Millennium Gallery until Sun 14 Sep. Suggested donation £5 – please donate if you’re able.
