We’re kicking off series 2 of Sheffield Makes with a visit to the David Mellor cutlery factory in the Peak District. 🍴🍃
We meet Corin Mellor, Creative Director, who takes us behind the scenes at the studio and factory for an insight into the quality manufacturing and design heritage that David Mellor is internationally known for.
David Mellor is designer, manufacturer and retailer of high-quality tableware and kitchenware. The company was set up by David Mellor, a key figure in British design who was born in Sheffield and originally trained as a silversmith. He specialised in metalwork and is particularly famous for his cutlery which has won numerous design awards and is in many international collections, including the City of Sheffield’s metalwork collection!
And the connections continue, David’s first studio was just around the corner from Millennium Gallery and his first cutlery was made on the site of what’s now the Millennium Gallery, plus, you can also purchase David Mellor items in our Millennium Gallery shop.✨
Sheffield Makes is a series of short films about Sheffield makers, processes and products produced within the City of Sheffield and surrounding area. It’s part of our Digital Programme, and we’ll be releasing a new film every month to offer a unique insight into the latest chapter in Sheffield’s making story 👊
