🌟 John Hoyland at the Millennium Gallery! 🌟 We’re celebrating the legendary John Hoyland (1934–2011) at the Millennium Gallery with two exhibitions this spring! 🎨✨ Welcome to Sheffield Sheffield City Centre Born and raised in Sheffield, Hoyland was one of the most dynamic abstract painters of the 20th century—constantly pushing boundaries throughout his 50-year career. We kicked things off with Strange Presence, showcasing his bold, iconic, paintings. 🖼️ Now, we’re gearing up for These Mad Hybrids, opening next week. This exhibition highlights his rarely seen, wildly creative sculptures—his ‘mad little hybrids’ from the 1990s. Expect colour, energy, and plenty of surprises! 💥 It’s an exciting moment to for Sheffield to see the paintings alongside the sculptures, and we can’t wait to share it with you. These exhibitions have been curated by sculptor Olivia Bax, with Sam Cornish and Wiz Patterson Kelly of John Hoyland Estate, with thanks to Arts Council England Suggested donation £5 – please donate if you're able and help keep your museums open and available for everyone to enjoy.
