⭐ New exhibition opening this Thursday! ⭐ Coming to the Millennium Gallery from Hayward Gallery Touring and curated by writer and critic Hettie Judah, Acts of Creation shines a spotlight on a subject seldom seen in art history – the experience of motherhood as represented through the work of artist mothers. Find out more on our website: https://www.sheffieldmuseums.org.uk/whats-on/acts-of-creation-on-art-and-motherhood/ We’re just in process of installing the over 100 artworks, which span the feminist avant-garde to the present day – here’s our Exhibition Curator, Katie putting the finishing touches to the installation of Billie Zangewa’s hand stitched silk collage, Temporary Reprieve, (2017). See this and more when the exhibition opens on Thursday 24 October. Entry to the exhibition is free – if you’re able, please donate and help keep your museums free and open for everyone to enjoy. Guidance for visitors: Artworks in this exhibition address important issues surrounding women’s health and wellbeing, including nudity, childbirth, (in)fertility, miscarriage, abortion, loss, domestic abuse, adoption, sterilisation and obstetric violence #sheffieldmuseums #creativesheffield #visitsheffield #whatsonsheffield #sheffieldexploringlocal #oursheffield #wearesheff #southyorkshire #letscreate #acefunded #thankstoyou #sheffieldcitycentre #millenniumgallery
