✨New display in the cases along the avenue at The Millennium Gallery! Come and enjoy a selection of delightful works by talented local artist, Karin Hessenberg! ✨
The display features 3-d Tudor portraits, inspired by paintings at the National Portrait Gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery, and Hardwick Hall. They require Karin to carry out thorough research into Tudor dress - as portraits usually only show the front of the subject! 👀
Also on display are imaginative works, exploring sculptural aspects such as distortion, and extracting elements from family photos for inspiration. Including the fitting 'Ice creams at the sea-side' group sculpture 🍦 These stoneware sculptures are made by freehand modelling clay and painting glazes onto the dry sculptures, before slowly firing at 1260°C. ✨
