WELCOME TO SHEFFIELD - an open air museum of football! We’re the beautiful game was created. Here’s a few shots of our unveiling of a blue plaque… that joins seven others in our home town. Here at the Frog and Parrot we honour John Tasker (more of that name later). Creator of the world’s first floodlit football match in 1878. From these very premises. Swing by, have a pint… check out the story behind this incredible citizen of Sheffield.

The Tasker name? Well - we happen to know that Tasker Road in Crookes is named, rightly, after a fella that beavered away in a workshop above our pub. Tasker Road became synonymous with Joe Cocker… who (in the outside lav at his mam and dad’s house st number 38) created a 3/4 blues version of The Beatles “With A Little Help From My Friends”. That song went down a storm here… in the room now known as Parrot’s Beak (but that’s another story), and on the streets below - aye such was the crowd. Came down stairs - signed an album deal… and became the voice of Woodstock. Creativity breeds creativity, and we’re good at that in these parts
