If you haven’t tried this phenomenal #Belgian beer now is the time. If you have and you’re all about #orvalislife then also now is the time for catching vintages you might have missed. Brasserie d'Orval is a Trappist brewery within the walls of the Abbaye Notre-Dame d'Orval in the Gaume region of Belgium. The present day brewery was built in 1931. Though throughout the long history of Orval, there has probably always been a brewery at the monastery, for centuries. It employs folks outside the monastery alongside; with the funds keeping the monastery running and for charitable work. A woman, Anne-Françoise Pypaert has been the head brewmaster since 2014, having worked at the brewery since 1992. She also looks after the monastery’s dairy cheese production. 🧀 The beer is a dry-hopped amber Belgian ale world classic with refreshing dryness. Bottled in a distinctive skittle shape with Brettanomyces bruxellensis yeast. Meaning the beer’s complexities evolve over time and there’s a real joy tasting it’s evolution. 🙌
