Co-working spaces in the city centre 🤝

📖 Sunday 6 April 2025

They say a change is as good as a rest.

Co-working outside the office or home is a great way to collaborate, reignite productivity or simply break away from that same old sandwich combination.

Sheffield city centre has lots of options for co-working, and we’ve put together this guide to the best places to plug in.

They are organised by two categories, depending on your business needs.

Cafes, food halls and other casual venues

👩‍💻Dedicated co-working office spaces

Cafes and food halls

Hygge
Fitzalan Square, Eyre Street and Wellington Street (coming soon)
8am-6pm, multiple plug sockets

Hanging chairs, a Scandi-cool interior and excellent coffee make independent Hygge a solid option for co-working.

Their original site - which also boasts plenty of whimsically designed nooks and crannies - on Fitzalan Square is often busy with people typing at their laptops.

Freshly made sandwiches and tempting cakes are on offer, and if you need a screen break, there are books or games available too.

Hygge is set to open its third venue at Elshaw House, overlooking Pounds Park, in spring 2025.

Sheffield Plate
Orchard Square
11am-9pm weekdays, some plug sockets

Take your tastebuds on holiday at Sheffield Plate, a food hall serving dishes from around the world.

Peruvian chicken rice bowls, authentic pad Thai and Greek gyros are just a small sample of dishes available.

Working from the window seating, where there are plug sockets, allows you to enjoy some people watching and there’s a bar two steps away for when you clock off.

The Co-Work Collective at The Cosy Club
Holly Street
Regular events starting Thursday 17 April 2025, drop in 9.30am-2pm
RSVP to jade@jadelianacommunications.co.uk

The word ‘networking’ can strike fear into the hearts of even the most experienced professional.

A new drop-in co-working space in Sheffield city centre is the alternative, designed to encourage more natural conversations between professionals from every industry and at all levels.

Inclusive and welcoming, The Co-work Collective has been set up by Jade Liana March, a freelance PR and copywriter.

She said: “I’ve been in the working world since 2011, and I’ve never really enjoyed traditional networking events. They often cater to those who are naturally confident in those settings, which isn’t the case for everyone.

“While there’s a time and place for structured networking, I saw an opportunity to create something more accessible and that fosters meaningful, organic connections.

“The Co-Work Collective has the potential to bring together professionals who might not ordinarily cross paths.

“A graduate could attend and meet a hiring manager, or a freelance web designer could connect with a business in need of a website refresh.

“Unlike traditional industry-focused networking events, this setting creates opportunities in a more relaxed and authentic way.

“It also gives remote workers a chance to get out, meet their peers, and feel part of a community.”

The first event takes place in April 2025 on a drop-in basis, and regular meet-ups will be organised in the future.

Jade added: “I’m so excited by the response so far!

“While there are other coworking spaces and networking events in Sheffield, this idea really merges the best of both worlds.

“There’s no pressure - no need to hand out business cards, do awkward introductions, or participate in structured discussions (which can be anxiety-inducing for many).

“Just bring your laptop, grab a coffee or some food, and work in a welcoming, relaxed environment.

“The Cosy Club is the perfect venue, and I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone to the first event.”

Its location, close to the train and bus station, and within Sheffield’s Creative Industries Quarter, is no doubt part of its appeal, but it also offers a great community, free tea and coffee, and a friendly reception team working Monday to Friday.

Club members are connected through a programme of networking and social events and benefit from sharing their workspace with the city's government funded start-up and business support programme delivered by Business Sheffield.
