It’d be rude not to mark the birthday of the late - his Sheffield Highness Joe Cocker. Said to have penned the 3/4 blues version of With A Little Help From My Friends, on the outside carsey at 38 Tasker Road, Crookes.
Joe’s band mates Gerry Scanlon and John Firminger confirmed that they signed their first album deal here at the Frog. (Table 8 as it is now). Back when we were the Prince of Wales. This followed a gig upstairs in what is became known later as The Parrot’s Beak. (Cornerstone - AM).
The crowds were so huge that the windows were opened so the knowledgable hometown fan base could gather on Division Street, Devonshire Street, Westfield Terrace and Trafalager Street and listen in.
Cheers Joe
