Bit of an update! Remember we commisioned the brilliant Sheffield-based artist and poet Wemmy Ogunyankin to write a poem for Hop Hideout as part of the Crowdfunder pledges? Helping us to move into Leah's Yard 📝 Well thanks to our neighbours Pete Mckee Art it’s finally printed and framed. And it has all the supporters’ names listed along the bottom 🙌 We just need to find a place to hang it up in store now… Here’s the poem below for you to enjoy, it’s called, ‘It’s Only a Wednesday’ and we think Wemmy beautifully captures the people, sentiment and community spirit 💕 📸 2nd photo @wemmyogunyankin It’s Only a Wednesday It’s Only a Wednesday As you’re walking down the cobbled streets peppered with the footsteps of friends and strangers pastCome in with your briefcase or your handbag, your backpack and tote bagCome in with open hands to find the storieswedged into the cracks in the brick wallWhile you’re waiting for your drink to pour, the head to settlemeet the mama who likes a really strong beerthe grandfather who loves a Belgianthe business-folk who love a lagerthe wanderer in the corner reading some fictionabout a child who changed the worldabout the brother who lost his shadowthe village that fought together to stay togetherthe gods who felt love but chose warthe wonders of fantasy breathing lifeinto our laps, our heartsEase into your seat, into your drink andrest your elbows on the mango wood tableNotice the hum, the buzz, the fizz of friendship, the making of memoriesthinking, dreaming of the places you’re goingand the friends you’re going with…
