New in is this Heist Brew Co and International Women's Collaboration Brew Day beer - Gwenda’s Garage with Pink Boots Society hop blend, 4% session IPA 🔨 Named after the pioneering 80s car repair garage run by women - Roz Wollen, Annette Williams and Ros Wall. Which was in turned inspired by Gwenda Stewart, who started her driving career taking ambulances through dangerous territory during World War One. By 1921 she established the 1000-mile record on a Ner-A-Car motorcycle.
“For five years during a turbulent political and social decade, Gwenda’s was a brilliant way station for three women who used spanners and elbow grease in a male-dominated trade as the starting point for empowering a generation of South Yorkshire women.“
Roz continues the legacy via the WEST charity (Women in Engineering, Science and Technology). Thanks to Lucienne for organising and managing the #brewday during Sheffield Beer Week which we popped along too and was brilliant to meet everyone. Cans now in store and online, keg pouring soon 🤘
