Our Sheffield City Centre tours will give guests an insight into some of Sheffield's fascinating history! We will visit a number of city centre landmarks including Fitzalan Square which was created in 1881 and until 1999 was the location of the Main Post Office, well-known for the long line of red telephone boxes outside. The square was bombed in the second world-war and The Marples Hotel received a direct hit - resulting in 70 people losing their lives. A blue plaque now marks the location and commemorates the bombing. Some may remember the cinema in the square - The Classic which closed in 1984. The cinema was pulled down and The Chakra Lounge is located there - a hidden gem and one of the venues we will visit on A Taste of Sheffield Food Tour.
