A selection of highlights to look forward to in 2025 as we welcome another packed events programme to Sheffield city centre in 2025, everything from food and music festivals to special exhibitions, celebrations and live performances. 👏

Sheffield Powerlifting Championships 2025 🏋️

📝 24 of the world’s strongest powerlifters battle it out for the title of 'champion of champions'.

February's highlights include:

Sheffield Lunar Chinese New Year Festival 2025 🐍

A weekend of free celebrations in the heart of Sheffield city centre.

📅 Saturday 1 to Sunday 2 February 2025
🕙 Stalls open from 10:00 until 18:00
🕛 Performances from 12:00
📍 Sheffield city centre - Peace Gardens, Pinstone Street and Surrey Street.

🐍 Sheffield marks the Year of the Snake with the biggest Lunar Chinese New Year Festival ever seen in the city.

This year's festival is headlined by a free two-day celebration in the city centre over the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 February 2025.

The weekend's highlights include:

A main festival stage at the Peace Gardens where visitors will be able to enjoy live performances, including traditional music and dance.
The World Champion Foshan Lion Dance Troupe, a renowned and highly-regarded group from China, who will be performing acrobatic stunts on a 15-metre platform.
A lantern trail which will see the city centre's strees illuminated with 1,000 traditional Chinese lanterns.
Chinese zodiac signs will be on display across the city centre, complete with interactive QR codes to explore the meaning behind each symbol.
A wide array of food stalls offering a wide selection of traditional Asian cuisines.

The festival’s central event will take place in the Peace Gardens, featuring spectacular lion and dragon dances, live music, cultural performances as well as authentic food to mark the occasion.

Visitors can enjoy a diverse programme of performances, including the Dragon Dance and Parade, a cultural fashion show, and displays by the Wanlin Dance Academy (Sheffield's 'home for traditional Chinese dance'), Chengdu Acrobatic Troupe and the Sheffield Chinese Christian Church Gospel Choir.

Global influences will also take the spotlight, with Bollywood dance, African drumming, and Roma Flamenco presented by Welcoming Culture.

Visitors can also experience traditional Chinese instrumental music on the Guzheng and Pipa, and savour authentic Chinese dishes from the many food stalls.
