Julie Nortcliffe can barely keep up with demand for her stall’s £4.99 hit gift 🎁

The owner of Love & Best Wishes, in The Moor Market, has launched her Blind Date With a Book selection for the first time this year. 

The concept is simple.

Preloved books are beautifully wrapped in brown paper with only a genre written on, and contain a chocolate bar as well as a teabag. They make perfect stocking fillers and are flying out.

“As soon as they went on sale people loved them”, said Julie, who is spending every spare moment wrapping more books.

“So many people are coming back again for more. The books which have ‘psychological thriller’ written on the wrapping have been the most popular.”

Just across the street, The Works on The Moor is a treasure trove of affordable gifts.

The store hosts a huge range of crafts, books, games and toys. Young artists are especially well catered for, and this £10 pop up easel art set is bound to keep them entertained long after the festive season.

If there’s a tea lover in your family, the new opening Bird and Blend is the place to be.

This independent specialist on Pinstone Street is part of the flourishing Heart of the City redevelopment. Inside you’ll find a tea bar, plus every tea tool and blend imaginable.

The store is home to the largest matcha tea range in the UK, and even stocks a tea advent calendar. We picked out their festive £10 tea bag selection as the ideal gift for fans of a good brew.

The store has plenty of cosy jumpers and stylish accessories for the winter season in stock. We picked out this velvet-look silver dress as a timeless but on-trend gift for a sister, friend or daughter - and it’s only £25.

Find the must-have Christmas toys of the year at The Entertainer, based on The Moor.

It’s packed with inspiration for children of all ages, from modelling dough to games and Spider-Man to Sylvanian Families. There’s a good Barbie section including several of the new Barbie Color Reveal or Pop Reveal tubes from £16. These sets feature colour-changing dolls and accessories, all of which stay a surprise until they are fully unboxed.

Christmas gifts for £50 in Sheffield city centre 💝

It’s only been two weeks since premium retailer The Cream Store opened its doors. But staff say Sheffielders have already given the clothing and lifestyle store a typically friendly welcome.

“It has exceeded all of our expectations”, said Kyle Barley, store manager. “That’s in terms of sales but also how excited the community has been. It’s been amazing to see everyone come in.”

The contemporary store, on Charles Street, stocks exclusive brands including Aesop, Parlez and Saucony. The shop’s mezzanine floor is dedicated to American outlet Carhartt.

Downstairs, a stunning floral sign by Sheffield design studio The House of Jupiter overlooks carefully curated displays of contemporary clothing. And the bold graffiti inspired Obey T-shirts (£42) would make an ideal gift for a brother, partner or son.

Kyle said the team have big plans for their store, including a hydration station to fuel people heading out on Peak District walks and a podcast. 

Also new to Sheffield city centre is an Early Learning Centre, which landed in M&S Fargate just in time for Christmas shopping.

It’s on the second floor of the department store, with a range of educational and first toys available. They include sensory ball pits, classic wooden toys and walking unicorns.

This Happyland magic motion train set (reduced to £41.99) is the ideal introduction to the joys of transport for any child over two.

When it comes to treating mum, TK Maxx at Leopold Square has plenty of choice.

The store has three floors to discover, and is packed with designer gift options across jewellery, clothing, tech, lifestyle and beauty. This stunning green Dune handbag is £49.99 and will tone with any autumnal outfit.

Christmas gifts for £100 in Sheffield city centre ⭐

Sheffield artist Pete McKee adroitly captures the city’s personality in his popular prints, murals and products.

The McKee Gallery, located inside (also new) independent retail destination Leah’s Yard, is an excellent source of gifts for dad or grandad.

Let them relive their 1970s’ youth with a framed, limited edition Chopper Boy artwork for £125. You could also commemorate their love for Richard Hawley’s music with Pete’s framed print of the Sheffield songwriter, priced £120. Beer blades, calendars, jumpers and prints are also available for all budgets. 

💡 Pick up a pack of eight Children’s Hospital Charity Christmas Cards at the McKee Gallery for just £6. They come with envelopes and are wrapped in ribbon to cut down on plastic. 

All proceeds from each pack sold go to Artplus which uses art to provide child-friendly settings at Sheffield Children’s Hospital to help young patients feel more comfortable.

Grade II Leah’s Yard, on Cambridge Street, is a former collection of industrial workshops now home to top quality independent makers and creators.

Historic department store Atkinsons on The Moor has a hidden gem tucked away on its second floor.

Their children’s section has a significant selection of Lego gifts, including Marvel, Harry Potter and Lego Friends collaborations. This Star Wars TIE Bomber set - including a Darth Vadar minifigure - costs £59.99 and will keep fans occupied for hours.

For younger kids, these two-in-one bikes by Dutch brand Trybikes have bags of vintage style and are reduced to £124.95.

Dazzle your loved one with a jewellery gift from luxury jewellers HL Brown, which was established in 1876.

The Christmas Market returns 🎁

📅 Thursday 14 November to Tuesday 24 December 2024

There’s plenty of Christmas Crackers still to come - with Sheffield’s glittering festive market returning from Thursday 14 November right through until Christmas Eve.

Expect Alpine-themed bars, street food, the iconic big wheel and of course, charming gifts from cabin-based traders.

💡 To mark the opening of the Sheffield Christmas Market, Sheffield is set to proove that it really is 'Crackers for Christmas' with a special opening weekend packed with an array of festive family entertainment right across the city centre. 

Crackers for Christmas runs over the weekend of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November 2024.

Getting around the city centre 🚏

Getting around the city for shopping is easier than ever before with the new Sheffield Connect bus service. These frequent electric buses can take you across the centre in a jiffy ⚡ 

There are two Sheffield Connect services to look out for, Sheffield Connect 1 (SC1) and Sheffield Connect 2 (SC2). Both operate circular routes and take in a number of the city centre's main attractions on their journeys. 

💷 The Sheffield Connect service is free to use, simply hop on and hop off at the dedicated stops in and around Sheffield city centre. 

💡 If you need more support with getting around the city centre, check out the Mobile Sheffield service. Mobile Sheffield provide electric scooters and wheelchairs for hire on a daily basis from their unit on Surrey Street.
